As I look back on the past few weeks, I’m filled with gratitude for the many opportunities I’ve had to share music—from quiet, intimate workshops to joyful moments performing in the streets during Make Music Day with Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
No stage is too small. Whether I’m in a classroom with just a handful of curious students, leading a drumming circle at the local library, or playing on the sidewalk surrounded by dancers and strangers-turned-family, I’m reminded that music is a living, breathing language meant to connect and uplift.

This year has taken me from Albany all the way back to Havana, where I’ve continued my studies in rumba guaguanco, columbia, and son, deepening my understanding of the roots and rhythms that move us all. I’m especially grateful to my teachers —elders, artists, and carriers of culture—who continue to challenge, inspire, and stretch me both as a student and as a creator.
These traditions are a gift. Being able to honor them, to weave them into my work, and to share them with others here in New York is something I don’t take for granted.
Stay tuned—there’s more to come.
Con mucho cariño,
Jordan Taylor Hill
